Still Still Still

Still, still, still,
One can hear the falling snow.
For all is hushed,
The world is sleeping,
Holy Star its vigil keeping.

A simple ride to help out on this special eve,
To a neighbor's land checking on things in their leave,
Finding tracks with large grooves coming off an old loggers road,
Between the properties of Larbee and Wells did not at all well bode.
A sound, a movement caught from the corner of his eye,
Flying, landing, from white falling snow to darkness his head didn't know.

Still, still, still,
One can hear the falling snow.

Standing at the window staring out at the falling snow,
Though the laughter and sounds echoing around flowed,
A quiet settled deep within in Chris's soul, letting him know,
The same message that came in the sudden appearance outside was told.

Sleep, sleep, sleep,
'Tis the eve of our Saviour's birth.
The night is peaceful all around you,
Close your eyes,
Let sleep surround you.

He felt the steps taken, with twin shadows of loving hope,
That kept him going though sleep was calling he had to cope.
Coldness bone joint deep, heartache carried far worse in his keep,
Mind's fear wouldn't make it, but heart's belief and faith he felt so deep.
A knowing without doubt they would come, never again to be alone, lost,
Times he wondered the price, but his soul knew they were worth the cost.

Sleep, sleep, sleep,
'Tis the eve of our Saviour's birth.

In a blink of an eye six rode out following a riderless horse,
All taking notice of the brilliant star shining ahead on their course.
Their chest tight holding out for a miracle to help find in their sight,
The brother that was missing on the eve of this holiest of nights.

Dream, dream, dream,
Of the joyous day to come.
While guardian angels without number,
Watch you as you sweetly slumber.

Falling to his knees, energy frozen and spent,
Vin held the wolf pups close a prayer he said to heaven sent.
Looking to the rise where a light was shining down from a bright star,
Appearing like angels, his brothers who in his heart were never that far.
Watching as if in a dream with the sparkling snow as they reached him,
Surrounding, caring, comforting and helping even with the two of them.

Dream, dream, dream,
Of the joyous day to come.

They watched as the game warden released the captured mother,
Reuniting with her pups with a wondrous love like no other.
The Poachers were caught charged also with assault,
For firing at Vin, scaring Peso into a rearing and run,
All was well on this joyous of days now as came the sun.
Standing together seven men, seven brothers, family and love unlike none...
